GOODWILL WEEK: If you've ever wondered what impact your donation of lightly used clothes and household items can have to help those in need, Goodwill has an online tool to give you a snapshot of how you've contributed. Just visit donate.goodwill.org and tally up all the items you've donated to see how many hours of career counseling you've provided to those who need it most.

GOODWILL WEEK: When donating clothes and household items to your local Goodwill store, be sure to donate them when the center is open and accepting donations. Leaving items outside the drop-off site could lead to theft of donated goods, or worse, damage by bad weather. Always call ahead to find out the best times to come and donate.

GOODWILL WEEK: When selling items on eBay, you can also attract more buyers to your listing and support Goodwill by donating a portion of the sale price to the charity; eBay's Giving Works makes it easy to create a charitable listing; your item for sale will also be promoted more prominently, which can help attract more buyers and help increase the final sale price. It's up to you how much you want to donate -- anywhere from 10 percent to 100 percent of the final sale price.
