When shopping for eggs, there are many options to choose from based on how the hens were treated, ranging from organic to free-range to pasture-raised, or even what type of feed is given to the chicken. According to Mother Earth News, the best choice if you can't raise your own chickens is hens raised on pastures. In comparison to factory-farmed eggs, pasture-grown eggs have 1/3 less cholesterol, 1/4 less saturated fat and 2/3 more vitamin A. They also contain double the omega-3 fatty acids. So not only are the hens happier, but they also produce healthier eggs.
