If you're dropping off clothes and knickknacks at your local Goodwill this weekend, take a peek inside. I'm always surprised at what great bargains and treasures can be found in the housewares section. Entire collections of vintage ceramics and fine china can be found for a song. Why get the expensive designer sets in stores when the real deal can be found for pennies on the dollar? And check the kid's section. Little-used board games can be found for a few dollars a piece. Build a rainy day game collection at home, so you and your friends will have something fun to do next weekend.

You're green and didn't even know it: In the past, shooting photographs meant loading film, throwing away packaging, using toxic processing methods and tossing the prints that didn't quite come out right. Today, it's a whole different story: No film, no caustic processing and no waste. And for some, no prints either: just upload and view online.

So, which pencil is the greenest pencil? It's not the plastic refillable kind. While they may seem green because you refill them when needed, the reality is that these pencils A) break, B) are made from non-renewable plastic, and C) the refills come in plastic tubes. Stick with the good, old-fashioned wood pencil instead. Many are now made from reclaimed wood, which would've otherwise gone into landfills.
