While many of us are suffering through the dreary winter months, this is also a good time to think about your spring garden. When choosing seeds and plants, try to pick some heirloom vegetable and flower varieties. As more and more plants become ubiquitous around the country, it's important to keep these rare heirloom varieties alive. The easiest way is to grow them yourself in your own backyard.

How long is too long to leave your car idling? Just 10 seconds. If you've ever sat in your car with the engine running while waiting for someone to quickly run into the store, it takes only 10 seconds before you start wasting more fuel than you would restarting the engine. So, when in doubt, park and turn off the car to save gas.

Pressed powder makeup that breaks up into clumps can be salvaged with just a little rubbing alcohol and some time. Pack all the pressed powder clumps back into the compact and pour a little rubbing alcohol inside until it fills up to the top. Stir with a small spoon or toothpick until the mixture is smooth and then allow it to dry for 24 hours. The alcohol will evaporate and you'll be left with a good-as-new pressed powder.
